Tutorial: Adding Devices to the Device Tree

A device is any physical device, panel or I/O unit in the system. A typical system will consist of one to several dozen devices.

1. Right-click a driver in the device tree and select "New Device".

2. Each type of network will have different settings for devices. Fill out the device form and click "Finish". Click the help icon on the device screen for more information on that type of device. Click the "Back" button in the browser to return to the tutorial.

Depending on the type of network, there may be an option to scan the network for devices. This option will automatically search the entire network for devices and allow them to be easily added to the tree.

3. The device tree should now contain an icon for the new device. Be sure to read about templates to make duplicating devices easier.

Click "Next" to add points to the device tree.
