CatNet HMI uses template files to quickly clone devices, data points, graphics, schedules and all other features. With a pre-existing template, a new device can be completely set up and ready to use in less than one minute. The user only needs to supply the address of the new device.

Templates can be generated by the user from any device in the tree, but at least one device needs to be set up manually before generating the template. CatNet Systems offers a template design service where, given documentation on the I/O points of a device, we can create a template for you.

In OEM situations, it would be possible to supply templates for all of a manufacturers devices so the user or installer can simply select the desired template for each device and have virtually no manual set up.

CatNet HMI has a very powerful point addressing system. Most data points on a device can be accessed via this addressing system including properties of objects, bit fields, etc. However, there are times when accessing certain data is simply too complicated to be specified manually. For example, reading a value from one address, logically combining it with data at a second address and then writing it a third address.

CatNet HMI has a provision for this called Device Modules. Custom device modules can be created that will allow for accessing virtually any data on a given device.

Once the plug-in device module is installed, it is transparent to the user. Complicated point data is referred to with an English name and all reading/writing details are handled in the background.
